Export quality cloves meeting the following standards are available;
Physical appearance - Sound/Good Condition, Whole, Bold, Well Colored, Reasonable Uniform in Appearance, Free from Mustiness and contains not more than:
• 4% of stems, mother of cloves and extraneous matter.
• 12% kocker cloves
• 10% moisture
• The minimum oil content is 16% based on volume by weight.
• Cloves are exported in double bags of sisal, each weighing 40kg.
• Zanzibar cloves meets the American Spice Trade Association (ASTA) Cleanliness Specifications for spices, and please note that neither pesticides nor artificial fertilizers are used in the cultivation and production of Zanzibar cloves."
1) Cloves measure to a height of 1.3 cm to 1.5 cm
2) Cloves have the width of 0.5 cm on the bud and below 0.3 cm
3) Cloves weigh 8000 to 10000 cloves per Kg or 8 to 10 cloves per gram |
