M2 high speed tool steel manufacturers and suppliers, supplied in round rods, square/flat bars, plates, sheets and blocks.

1.Composition

Carbon: 0.78/0.88; Chromium: 3.75/4.50; Molybdenum: 4.50/5.50;
Vanadium: 1.75/2.20; Tungsten: 5.50/6.75;

3.Form & Size

1) Fuhongsteel are manufacturers and suppliers of M2 High-Speed Steel round bars, flat bars, plates, etc.
2) High Speed Tool Steel Size Available (Length can be customized):

Round bar
dia. 1-16mm (cold rolled);
dia. 10-50mm (hot rolled);
dia. 50-180mm (hot forged);
dia. 180-300 (free forging);

Flat bar
Thickness: 1-2.5mm (cold rolled); 1.5-20mm (hot rolled); 20-300mm (hot forged);
Width: Max 800mm;

5.M2 HSS Applications

M2 high speed steel is widely used in broaches, milling tools, metal saws, twist drills, reamers.M2 hss is fit for cold forming tools such as plastic moulds, screw dies, Slotting tools and cold extrusion punches and cold work dies.

6.Forging

1) Preheat M2 high speed tool steel uniformly and slowly to 850-900°C.
2) Increase the forging temperature more quickly to 1050-1150°C.
3) M2 tool steel should be cooled very slowly after forging.

7.Heat Treatment

Annealing
M2 is annealed after hot working. Increase the temperature of M2 high speed steel to 850°C at a rate of Max220°C per hour. Hold at the temperature and then furnace cool slowly. The annealed hardness achieved should be Max255 Brinell.

Hardening
1) Preheat M2 hss too steel to 450-500°C;
2) Increase the temperature to 850-900°C;
3) Heating the hardening temperature to 1200-1250°C;
4) The M2 high speed steel component must be heated through;
5) Quench in the warm oil or brine, and then complete the quench in air;
6) M2 high speed steel is suitable for vacuum hardening, too.

Tempering
1) Temper M2 hss immediately after quenching;
2) Heat thoroughly and uniformly.
